EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Lisa’s Legacy Event 2024

On March 14 2024, Lisa’s Legacy hosted a free community event at the Fort Wayne Cinema Center.  The purpose was to raise awareness of what Lisa’s Legacy has to offer for someone who is grieving and to reinforce the concept that an individual does not have to grieve alone.  Tickets were free, although reservations were requested.  Sponsorships covered the cost of the event.

The evening began with a social hour entailing sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar in the Cinema Center lounge.   Because our event date could be written as 3.14.24, Walnut Hill Catering capitalized on the mathematical concept of 3.14 ( pi ) by offering three varieties of pie in addition to the hors d’oeuvres.

Ninety-one people made reservations for the event, many of which learned about Lisa's Legacy, thus helping to make our goal.  Also, new this year to the event was a Memory Wall.  Those who came could pick a silk flower or decorative butterfly from the “garden” of the Memory Wall, writing the name of a loved one in its place.

Prior to the movie, there was a short video about Lisa’s Legacy as well as three people who described how Lisa’s Legacy helps a person during their time of grief.  The movie of our choice was “The Starling”, featuring Melissa McCarthy and Kevin Cline.  The film centered around how a husband and wife dealt with the death of their newborn daughter and their ensuing grief.

Lisa's Legacy hosted a fundraiser event at the Fort Wayne Cinema Center on May 4, 2023 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

  • During the first hour there was a social event which included a PowerPoint loop featuring the event sponsors and a QR code to facilitate donations.  A scrumptious buffet was served by Walnut Hill Catering.

  • "Land" is about a woman who has lost her husband and son, and wants to grieve alone.  She rents a cabin in the breathtakingly beautiful Rocky Mountains, finding out just how difficult solitary survival can be.  She also discovers how important it is to have support during a time of grief and learns about the gift of hope.

Approximately $5,000 was raised and the proceeds are used to buy the grief bags and the items that are put in grief bags for all ages. Contributions are tax-deductible and 100% of proceeds are applied to the grief bags and contents.
